Excellence: It's the cornerstone of education in Garrett County. Under the leadership of Superintendent Ms. Barbara Baker, Garrett County Public Schools continue meeting the educational needs of 21st-century learners.
'[Our] schools mirror the community,' says Baker. 'They are vibrant, engaging, caring, and committed to excellence.'
Smaller class sizes, in general, allow award-winning educators to engage with their students in meaningful ways. One such educator, Dr. Dana McCauley, principal of Crellin Elementary School, is nationally recognized as a leader in environmental education.
Garrett's middle and high schools are stellar, as well. In 2011, of 373 high school students, 36% completed the Career and Technology study program; and 22% completed both.
